Admiral Ethan Welch of Rochester, N.Y., right, founder of the La Trappe Creek Society, joins Jay Kenlan of Wallingford, Vt., the group's commodore, Friday evening at Bay Breeze Yacht Charter. The society launched their annual week-long sail Saturday morning that will take 11 boats from Traverse City to Mackinac Island and back.
