Readers identify paper boys

Mozelle Sawyer Bell responded to a request for information on the Traverse Area Historical Society archive photo that appeared in the Jan. 14 Community section. The photograph featuring a group of paperboys was identified as Record-Eagle newspaper boys Stamp Sale, 1942.

Bell writes: "After looking through my 1941, 1942, 1943 and 1944 Pines yearbooks, I'll guess that the first three boys in the back row, from left to right, are Eugene O'Dell '43, Jack Rokos '43, and David Courson '44. I graduated from Traverse City High School in 1944, and I'm looking forward to our 65th reunion this summer!"

Gwendolyn Durga also sent an e-mail identifying two of the Record-Eagle newspaper boys in the Jan. 14 archive photo. She writes: "The boy holding the newspaper bag, I believe to be John Ashmore. The boy in the back row, on the left side, looking at the picture is my deceased husband, Alvin Durga Jr."
