Several readers responded to a request for information on the Traverse Area Historical Society archive photo that appeared April 15 in the Community section. The photograph was of five men dressed in suits standing by what appears to be a fence.
Dr. Glenn Loomis, former superintendent of Traverse City Public Schools, was overwhelmingly identified as the second man from the right, with his hand in his pocket. Reader Phil Balyeat mentioned that Dr. Loomis offered him a job teaching and coaching the Traverse City Central track team after graduation in 1940. Reader Helen Wilson Vogel e-mailed that the man in the center might be Dr. Brownson.

Reader Murna Courtad e-mailed in response to a "Grand Traverse -- Reflections Along the Bay" book photo that appeared Jan. 30, 2008 in the Grand Traverse Herald. The photo was taken at Ehrenberger Grocers, 701 W. Front St., in 1910.
Courtad writes: "Left to right, behind counter: Percy Stanley, Frank Ehrenberger, Clark Kellogg, Joe Ehrenberger, Sr., and William Nash. Front row, left to right: Ole Sogge of Long Lake (my grandfather), William Castle and C.M. Buell."
