May 07, 2008 04:00 am Several readers responded to the photos taken inside J&S Hamburg in the 1940s published in the Community section on April 30. Noralee Garey identified several of the J&S waitresses pictured: "Bottom photo of waitresses back row (left to right) Lavina Schaub, Becky Fitzgerald, (later Saunders), next two unknown, center standing: Bea Sheldon, (later Send), bottom row (left to right) Roberta Boone (later Hanson), Orpha Couturier, Reva DeTour, (later Teboe). Top photo: Back of photo left: Levi DeTour; right at cash register: Ed Wilson. --- Doris Ackerman wrote in with the following information: "The young lady in the back row on the left hand side is my sister Doneva (Weidenhamer) Johnson. Our great grandfather had a saw mill in the Weidenhamer swamp and that is how that swamp got its name. He moved here from New Jersey." --- Bruce Hanson added this information about the photo of the waitresses: "The second photo of the J and S employees the bottom left hand lady is my mother, Roberta Boone (Hanson).
