Waterskiing woman is reader's mother

Linda Cobb responded to the request for information on the Traverse Area Historical Society archive photo that ran in the Community section on July 16. The photograph was of a woman sitting on a boat with water skis.

Cobb writes: "The picture in the 7/16/08 RE, section 2B, of 'Fancy Waterskiing' is of my mother, Barbara Sherberneau (Loveland). It was taken in July, 1956 in Traverse City. She was a flight attendant with Capitol Airlines and had skied for the Tommy Bartlett Water Ski Show out of Chicago at the time."

"I was surprised to see mom's picture in the paper. Mom got a big kick out of it as well! Actually, she was very well known in her day for her accomplishments, which also included alpine skiing (she trained with Stein Erickson)."
