Several readers responded to the Traverse Area Historical Society archive photo that ran in the Community section on August 6. The photo was an unidentified building.
-- Reader Tom Klinefelter wrote: "(Photo) is of the Suttons Bay Congregational Church photographed before the addition in the late 1950s. My parents were married there and I have looked at that same view many times in the family album. The home in the background is still there and the house on the right is now owned by the church and is the parsonage. I believe the photo was taken around 1949 based on the vehicle and the gentleman standing in the photo could be my grandfather, but I could not be sure."
-- Reader Sandy Erickson wrote: "This is a photo of the Suttons Bay Congregational Church. The house to the left in back of the church is where I lived as a child and I played on the steps of this church and went to Sunday School there."
-- Barbara Graves: "This is the Suttons Bay Congregational Church. My husband, an architect, Larry Graves, recognized the picture. He has contributed to major renovations since this photo was taken. The tree out front was "old" and removed just this spring. The church parsonage is the home to the right."
