Michael Cheshire, son of Dave and Patricia Cheshire and grandson of Dave and Brenda Cheshire, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Cheshire, who spends the summer with his parents and grandparents at their home in Traverse City, has been with Boy Scout Troop 1000 of West Bloomfield for five years. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow, has received the BSA mile swim and world conservation awards and has earned 62 merit badges.
After receiving his Eagle Scout rank, Cheshire applied to join the Civil Air Patrol and hopes to attend the United States Air Force Academy. He is completing the genealogical paper work to become a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Cheshire was a People-to-People student ambassador representing the United States in France, Italy and Greece. He is a Red Cross lifeguard, a NRA sharpshooter and a black belt in Kenop karate. He is a sophomore at West Bloomfield High School where he is on the football and swim teams.
