Michigan Technological University recognized the achievements of more than 450 degree candidates during midyear commencement ceremonies on December 15, 2007. Among them are the following from the local students: (Traverse City) Tiffany Arp, Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Rex Crouch, Bachelor of Science in Geology and Bachelor of Science in Scientific and Technical Communication, Christina Houts, Bachelor of Science in Geology and Bachelor of Science in Scientific and Technical Communication, Timothy Lau, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering - Cum Laude, Roland Scott, Master of Science in Computer Science, Matt Smith, Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Daniel Titze, Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering - Cum Laude; (Williamsburg) Jeffrey Breuker, Master of Forestry, David Henderson, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

University of Northwestern Ohio, Lima, Ohio -- Matthew Lakanen of Traverse City was named to the dean's list for the January session in the College of Technologies.

Western Michigan University -- Jessi Andrews, a 2004 graduate of Traverse City West Senior High School, was named to the fall semester dean's list at Western Michigan University. Her major is Family Studies. She is the daughter of Barry and Paulette Andrews of Traverse City.
