GT skiiers compete at Junior Olympics

Cassidy Klein, Kalvis Hornburg and Shannon Weaver competed in the 2008 USSA Rocky/Central J4 Junior Olympics held at Winter Park Resort in Colorado, March 18-22. The event featured the highest level of racing in the United States for the J4 age class (racers born in 1995 and 1996, ages 11-13); including the fastest racers from 18 states covering the Central and Southern Rockies and the Midwest. One hundred sixty athletes were selected to compete in Super-G, Giant Slaloms and Slalom events.

Klein, Hornburg and Weaver train with Win Alpine Race Team based out of Cannonsburg and the Junior High division of The Grand Traverse Ski Club. All three athletes are students at Traverse City East Junior High.
