Twin Bay skaters compete at regional

Twin Bay Figure Skating Club had three skaters qualify for the United States Figure Skating Association Eastern Great Lakes Regional Championship this year. Seven states were represented, with a total of 93 skaters competing this year at the pre-juvenile level.

Emily Cain is an eighth-grader at Traverse City East Middle School. Her program containing a double-loop, a double-salchow-double toe combination jumps as well as a layback and flying sit spin earned her sixth place out of 14 competitors.

Niki Roxbury is a fifth-grade student at Courtade Elementary School. Her program containing a flying sit-spin, two double-salchows, two axels and a flip double-toe combination earned her fifth place out of 15 competitors.

Chloe Gates is a sixth-grade student at Cherryland Middle School. In her first skate, she took second place out of 15 skaters. That qualified her for the Championship Round the top three skaters from each of the six qualifying rounds. She skated a strong program and placed sixth in that final round. Her program contained a flying sit-spin, two double-salchows, a double loop and a double toe-double toe combination.
